We're the testing team you wish you had time to be.

ToolPrimer is an independent review publication covering AI tools and SaaS software for creators and small businesses. We're a small editorial team that believes choosing software shouldn't feel like gambling.

Our audience is people who run things: newsletter writers, course creators, freelancers, agency owners, and small teams. They don't have a procurement department or a week to trial fourteen platforms. They need an honest answer: which tool should I actually buy for my situation?

That's what we publish. Comparisons and reviews written in plain language, with a clear verdict that names who each pick is for — and who it's not for.

Our editorial standards

  1. We test before we recommend. A tool only makes a recommendation list after we've used it hands-on for its core use cases. We do not publish rankings based on press releases or vendor claims alone.
  2. We publish the downsides. Every review includes honest limitations: pricing quirks, missing features, free-plan caps, and who the tool is wrong for. A glowing review with no trade-offs is a red flag, and we hold ourselves to the same standard.
  3. Pricing is a snapshot, not a promise. Software pricing changes often. We summarize pricing as an approximation with a "check current pricing" note, and we timestamp our updates. Always verify on the vendor's site before you buy.
  4. No paid placements. Vendors cannot pay for a ranking, a verdict, or a review. Sponsored content, if we ever run it, will be labeled as such and kept separate from reviews.
  5. We correct mistakes. If a vendor updates a feature or price and we got it wrong, we fix it and note the correction.

How we're funded

ToolPrimer is free to read because we earn affiliate commissions: when you click a link on this site and buy a tool, the vendor pays us a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions do not influence our rankings or verdicts — we'd rather lose a commission than recommend the wrong tool, because our entire business depends on your trust.
